As you probably worked out, earlier today we sent a letter to Newmont's chairperson and CEO to propose a merger between our 2 companies. There've been many unsuccessful attempts over the years to forge such a merger, and the reason for not doing it escapes me because this opportunity has strategic and financial rationale and is so obvious and compelling.
